Well, we saw that coming.
Before Christmas, when NPHET advised that a move to Level 5 would be necessary to curb the upward trend in infection, we decided that we would not reopen at West Cafe Wine Bar until January when things were more clear. The governments dithering forced us to make the call before any official announcement was made by them, and in the end it was the right decision as we would have been closed from Christmas Eve in any case.
Today, the Government have moved us to Level 5 until the end of January. It is probably too late for many, but at least there is some clarity, particularly given the decision to keep schools closed for an extra week to assess the situation further.
What this means for us, is that West Cafe Wine Bar will not be open for dine in until at least early February. While we opened for Take-Away in the summer, and feel that it worked very well, we do not plan to open for Take-Away during this lock-down. The numbers are just too high, the virus too prevalent in the community. We do not think it is a risk worth taking, for ourselves, or staff, or our customers.
What we will be offering for the foreseeable future is a click and collect service for freshly ground or whole bean coffee (and coffee equipment to keep you caffeinated through this latest stay at home period), and interesting cans of craft beer from our Take-Away selection. Both of these can be found online on our web-store. At the checkout you’ll have the option of selecting ‘Local Pick Up BANTRY’, and we will email you to arrange a collection time from the door of the bar.
From the Tabletop Cork side of things, we will be launching a New Year sale on the web-store tomorrow morning! There will be some fantastic deals across a wide range of games – watch out for 7 days of daily deals on our Facebook page @ TabletopCork. These can all be shipped to anywhere on the Island of Ireland to alleviate your lock-down boredom!
So while we will be Staying Home for the next month or so at least, we are still here to send you out games, coffees, and beers — or to pass them out the hatch to you if you are close enough for local pick up!
Stay Safe everyone. It is a bit scary at the moment.
